Dr. Eunice Apio Otuko from the Uganda People\u2019s Congress (UPC) defeated NRM’s Charles Okello Engola to take the Oyam North Parliamentary seat following a hotly contested by -election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apio secured 15,718 votes (49.12%), edging her rival Engola Junior by a difference of 557 votes. Engola polled 15,161 vote. The other candidates collected 1,117 votes between themselves .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Freddy Newton Okello run on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket and Daniel Okello was the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apio secured 15,718 votes (49.12%), narrowly defeating her closest competitor, Engola Junior, by a margin of 557 votes. Engola received 15,161 votes, while Okello from the FDC obtained 714 votes, and Okello from the NUP trailed behind with 403 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some NRM leaders claimed that there was vote rigging by the UPC camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
UPC officials thanked the Electoral Commision for conducting the by-elections in an orderly and fair manner .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
