The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the nomination exercise of candidates that will contest for the vacant seat of Member of Parliament for Oyam County North, Oyam District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya, said the nominations will be conducted for two days at Oyam District Council Hall in Oyam Town Council, starting at 9am and ending at 5pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He says aspiring candidates will be required to fulfil all the requirements for nomination for Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So far six aspirants have expressed interest to contest in the by-elections and these include the NRM endorsed candidate Engola Okello Samuel , Amolo Queen Dorothy (Independent), Apio Otuko Eunice (UPC), Okello Daniel (NUP), Okello Freddy Newton (FDC) and Omodo Willy Kagere (Independent)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNominated candidates will conduct campaign meetings for 13 days, that is, from Thursday 22nd June to Tuesday 4th July 2023,\u201d says Bukenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to EC roadmap, polling and counting of results for by-election of the Directly-elected Member of Parliament will be conducted on Thursday 6th July 2023, at all the 167 polling stations in Oyam County North Constituency, Oyam District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seat fell vacant following the death of the former MP Col (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola on May 2, 2023. Engola d was also the State Minister for labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
