Kampala has registered another case of gun violence after a prominent city lawyer was gunned down by yet to be identified assailants .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Luke Owoyesigyire , the Kampala Metropolitan Police South (KMP South) Spokesman confirmed the tragic incident that took place on the night of 30th May 2023 at Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo in Wakiso District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police has since identified the latest victim of gun violence as city lawyer, Mukisa Ronnie, (45) who was working at IBC Advocates located at Namanda Plaza, Kampala. Mr. Mukisa was a resident of Kitiko Birongo in Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo, Wakiso District .\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police said that according to their preliminary investigations , Mukisa arrived at his apartment parking lot at around 11pm and after parking his dark blue Subaru Legacy with registration number UBJ 006K, he proceeded to close the gate. It was during his return to the apartment that neighbors heard gunshots, prompting them to investigate the commotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Statements from eye witnesses have indicated that , an unidentified individual was seen\u00a0 shooting at Mr. Mukisa before briefly withdrawing, only to return and shoot him at close range multiple times in the head. The assailant quickly fled the scene and escaped on a waiting motorcycle, the direction of which remains unknown,” police stated .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Owoyesigyire explained in a statement that after the murder , the Kajansi Police Station took immediate action upon and a team was dispatched to the scene, followed by the introduction of canines to aid in the investigation. “Despite their efforts, the scent was lost along the way. A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of four projectiles and cartridges. The body of Mr. Mukisa was subsequently retrieved and transported to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kajansi Police Station is currently conducting inquiries to gather further information and establish the motive behind this heinous crime. We assure the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the perpetrator(s) and bring them to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
following the close of police posts in and round the city , there has been a marked increase in murders by use of guns and the city residents have called on the authorities to increase foot and vehicle patrols in night hours to stem crime .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
