Following numerous protests the Church of Uganda has finally broken away from the Church of England to stick to biblical teachings of \u201cone man ,One woman\u201d unions and protect African cultures against the criminal practice of homosexuals .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Archbishop, the Most Rev. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, in a statement to the public after the just concluded Global Anglican Future Conference (GFCON) on Friday 21, April 2023 held in Kigali Rwanda said that the Church of England decision to provide prayers of blessing to same-sex marriages left them with no choice but to break away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have recognised that the Archbishop of Canterbury has abdicated his historic place as the \u201cFirst among Equals\u201d among the Primates and Churches of the Anglican Communion, and we no longer recognise him as our leader,\u201d the statement reads in part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u201cThe Church of England General Synod\u2019s decision to provide prayers of blessing to same-sex unions and the Archbishop of Canterbury\u2019s enthusiastic support of it are decisions we cannot recognise and have resulted in the breaking of fellowship with him and the Church of England.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement also indicated that the conference which attracted 1,300 delegates from 52 countries re-affirmed its commitment to resolution 1.10 from the 1998 Lambeth Conference which declared that \u201chomosexual practice is incompatible with scripture.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs a conference, we have re-affirmed our commitment to Resolution 1.10 from the 1998 Lambeth Conference that declares homosexual practice as being incompatible with scripture,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe will continue to support GAFCO because of its commitment to mission. In fact, we will adopt GAFCON proposal to declare the next 10 years as a Decade of Discipleship, Evangelism and Mission.
