Ron Sheppard has tied the knot eight times, with his longest marriage lasting 13 years and the shortest just 10 months, but now at 74 years old, he says his romancing days are behind him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron Sheppard, whose eight\u00a0weddings<\/a>\u00a0make him the UK\u2019s most\u00a0married<\/a>\u00a0man, says his romancing days are over and he\u2019s moving into a care home because all his wives have \u201ctired his body out\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron, who turns 75 in May, is leaving his little flat in Somerton, Somerset, for a new life in a care home close to where his family live in the Isle of Wight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron, who suffers from a range of conditions including Parkinson\u2019s Disease, says: \u201cMy health is not good now.\u201cI think it\u2019s possible all my wives have worn my body out over the years,\u201d he added. \u201cThe mental and physical stress of the divorces have taken their toll.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t regret any of my marriages,\u201d Ron told\u00a0Somerset Live<\/a>, \u201cbecause I have my eight children.\u201d Ron married his first wife Margaret in 1966. The couple had three children before their marriage ended in divorce two years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His latest, and he says last, wedding was to Weng in 2004. Ron’s longest marriage was 13 years and the shortest just 10 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\u2019s not in touch with any of his ex-wives but says he\u2019s looking forward to moving to the Isle of Wight to be close to his sons and their families. Ron believes that his lifelong search for \u2018the one\u2019 stems from the fact he was sexually abused as a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt left me with a lot of problems,\u201d he revealed. \u201cI was constantly craving companionship and I turned to women\u2026 I felt safe in the company of women.\u201d His days now are very different to those when he was a serial groom. Now he is largely confined to his flat, apart from occasional shopping trips with his carers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
