Celebrated human rights advocate Anothony Yeboah Wameli of the Makerere University School of Law -2000 class was buried at his ancestral home in Namisindwa . Several leaders paid tribute to the late Wameli as a passionate human rights advocate who offered his professional services without discrimination to the oppressed .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those that eulogized the late Wameli included Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago . He said that Wameli was a selfless gallant advocate, who put his skills to use for betterment of humanity and his country Uganda.
The body of former head of National Unity Platform (NUP) legal team, Anthony Wameli who died in the US last month was repatriated yesterday afternoon.
Lukwago hailed Wameli as being one of a few advocates who selflessly offered outstanding pro bono legal services in defense of human rights under very difficult situations. He was saddened that he died at such a young age when his services to the country were most required.
He called on other legal practitioners to emulate the good deed of the Late Counsel Wameli .
NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi said Wameli as a good advocate with a zeal to fight for justice for all and his love for God and his country transcended boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His 2000 class cohorts said Wameli was an excellent student , jovial , friendly , a preacher of the word of God and was always ready to help with complex legal matters .
The Late Wameli will be remembered for representing hundreds of NUP supporters in courts, including those who were arraigned before the General Court Martial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wameli passed away last month in the US where he had been hospitalised since September 2021 after being diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. He died aged 44 having been born on 29 August 1978. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
