The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development has partnered with Global Gases Group FZE for the conversion of the 50MW Namanve Thermal Power Plant from Heavy Fuel Oil to Liquefied Natural Gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding  by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Hon. Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa on behalf of the Government of Uganda and Mr. Deepak Metha the Founder and CEO of Global Gases Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Ministry of Energy\u2019s Permanent Secretary Eng. Irene Batebe together with a team from the Renewable Energy Development at the ministry\u2019s headquarters in Kampala. Liquefied Natural Gas is a renewable form of energy formed form natural gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the signed MOU, Global Gases Group FZE is expected to complete feasibility studies and a business case development for the conversion of the Plant to Liquefied Natural Gas. It is also responsible for providing liquified natural gas storage, supply, and all allied gas supply engineering and equipment for the migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development will provide gas offtake agreements at competitive prices as shall be negotiated, as well as the necessary approvals for the conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Global Gases Group and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development will develop a collaboration framework, milestones, operating and financial structure which will form the basis for the Binding Agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
