Alvin Jonathan Kugonza, 12, is among 832,654 candidates who sat their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) for 2022 and managed to score 4 aggregates. He has been studying at Rich Dad Junior School, Najjanankumbi, Kampala district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kugonza who wants to be a surgeon in future, says that he will focus on sciences once admitted in a good secondary school which has good facilities in sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnce I become a doctor specializing in Surgeon, it will help me to give much care for my people. I will also save my parents from the burden of paying huge hospital bills which many poor Ugandans can\u2019t afford now,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kugonza has attributed his success to God, cooperation with teachers and parents plus also studying on Zoom during Covid-19 lock down which helped him complete the syllabus on time and got enough time for revision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irishad Matovu 12, who scored 6 aggregates from Rich Dad Junior School wants to be an engineer that repairs planes. Others who performed well include Lydia Mirembe (5 agg), Fadhilah Hudah Ssemakula (5 agg),Rania Kanyange (5 agg), Aniisa Mutesi (5 agg), Jesca Nayiga Hagath (5 agg), Mellisa Nayiga (5 agg), Abdulswabur Kakooza Ssekaana (5 agg) and Tamarah Mubiru (7 agg).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rich Dad Junior School was the best school in Kampala district with all of their 42 candidates passing in grade 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of  832,654 candidates sat PLE in 2022, where over 140,617 candidates or about 14.1 % passing in Division 1. However over 90,000 pupils failed exams and can\u2019t proceed to the next level of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to UNEB Secretary Dan Odongo, the overall performance of  2022 candidates was better than that of 2020  and in terms of gender, the girls performed better than boys in English while boys performed better in the rest of the subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
