{"id":7640,"date":"2022-12-14T17:28:37","date_gmt":"2022-12-14T17:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugandaupdatenews.com\/?p=7640"},"modified":"2022-12-15T06:54:23","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T06:54:23","slug":"minister-nabakooba-on-country-wide-mission-to-stop-land-grabbing-halts-eviction-of-over-2000-bibanja-owners-in-gomba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prowebinhost.com\/anzu\/minister-nabakooba-on-country-wide-mission-to-stop-land-grabbing-halts-eviction-of-over-2000-bibanja-owners-in-gomba\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister Nabakooba\u00a0 on country -wide mission to stop land grabbing ,halts eviction of over 2,000 bibanja owners in Gomba"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Minister \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Lands ,Housing\u00a0 and\u00a0 Urban Development\u00a0 Judith Nabakooba who is on a country wide mission to stop illegal land evictions and secure land rights\u00a0 of millions of Ugandans has been in \u00a0\u00a0Kabulasoke , Gomba district, where she has stopped the eviction of over two thousand bibanjja owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bibanja owners in five villages of \u00a0Kabulasoke A, Kabulasoke B, Bukundugulu, Lubaale and\u00a0 Nkandwa all in Gomba district -covering \u00a0700 hectares -were to be evicted by a one Sulait\u00a0 Kalungi \u00a0who claims to own the land .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After directing that no one should be evicted without due process\u00a0&#8211; Nabakooba who was in company of the area Member of Parliament Robinah Rwakojo, noted that many Ugandans are being evicted from their land holdings because they don\u2019t know their land rights . there is need for thorough investigation&nbsp; and sensitisation of communities because we need to know the&nbsp; original land owners and how Kalungi comes into the picture since independent &nbsp;reports show that the land belongs to royal family ,\u201d&nbsp;Nabakooba stated .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Nabakooba directed the Gomba Residential&nbsp; District Commissioner to collect all the documents&nbsp; connected to the land in question so that the Land Ministry can start investigations to&nbsp;ascertain the rightful owners of the land in dispute .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c I have halted all the activities which were taking place on that land and everything should&nbsp; remain in status quo because we are starting the investigations very soon and&nbsp; a caveat will be entered on the land &nbsp;through the MZO,\u201d she said&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Rwakojo &nbsp;called upon the&nbsp; Ministry of&nbsp; Lands to sensitise Ugandans &nbsp;about land rights because land grabbers are taking advantage of&nbsp; peoples\u2019 ignorance to displace them .&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to the complaints Mr Kalungi said that he bought the land from Mr Dick Lutaaya in 2018&nbsp;
