National Drug Authority (NDA) has been Awarded and recognized for the fifth time as the best Visionary Health Government Regulatory agency for the year 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 NDA\u2019s performance in delivering on its core regulatory functions has benefited the country by  improving access and availability of safe and quality drugs (human and veterinary) and other healthcare products to the citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Public Relations Officer NDA Fredrick Ssekyana, some of NDA’s consolidated achievements that led to the award  include having a quality control laboratory which is rated at maturity Level 4 as per the WHO Global Bench-marking 4-tier classification of National Medicines Regulatory Agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis means our testing laboratory for medicines and other healthcare products is credible and internationally recognised in providing accurate test results,\u201d  Ssekyana said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said this during the 10th Visionaries Awards event held under the theme \u201cCelebrating Ten Years of Uganda Vision 2040 implementation towards Socio-economic transformation of Uganda,\u201d at Serena hotel in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ssekyana said that  in the  East African Community NDA is rated the centre of excellence for good manufacturing practice inspection. Its an achievement they have maintained by pursuing accession to the Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention Scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is our vision with respect to strengthening the NDA pharmaceutical inspectorate system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister for Public Service Wilson Muluri Mukasa said the award NDA received should inspire all organisations  towards business and individual excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGovernment of Uganda is still committed to providing a secure investment climate that will attract investment and spur national transformation.  Every effort will also be made to build the required infrastructure to support the investment process that will facilitate the creation of jobs, wealth and improved well being of our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muluri added, \u201cOur focus should be on business process re-engineering, which is aimed at facilitating easing of the cost of doing business between government and the private sector through the Service Uganda One Stop Centres.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, government will continue to support companies and manufacturers that embrace science and technology as it forms the back born for Uganda\u2019s future economic prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Francis Mwebesa said  the government has been working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic through widespread vaccination, as support to affected businesses in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGovernment will continue to support Ugandans to take advantage of the rising global and regional prices caused by the economic shocks during the global  COVID-19 pandemic and boost our export and household earnings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGovernment has started implementing the Parish Development Model -so the 39 percent of the households at subsistence level may join the money economy,\u201d Mwebesa added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is enhancing socio-economic transformation by redirecting resources towards wealth and job creation, industrialization, export promotion and other areas with high returns on investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe government  carries a special promise which will help Ugandans acquire more wealth- the youth and women will have more opportunities to unleash their potential to initiate and expand business enterprises for shared prosperity with support from various government projects like Parish Development Model (PDM) among others,\u201d Mwebesa said..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the government will continue to ensure peace and stability through enhanced security and macroeconomic stability as key foundations for growth and development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
