Globally, traffic is now at 74.6% of pre-crisis levels. Domestic traffic for July 2022 was up 4.1% compared to the year-ago period and is<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>now driving the recovery. Total July 2022 domestic traffic was at 86.9% of the July 2019 level. China saw strong month-to-month improvement compared to June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Africa moving in the right direction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Africa Airlines saw an<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>84.8% rise in revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs are the standard industry measure of demand) versus a year ago;increased passenger capacity by 46.7%&nbsp;and achieved a 15.5 percentage point increase in the average passenger load factor (the proportion of available seats taken up by fare-paying passengers) which climbed to 75.0%, the lowest of all regions worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Africa has retained a 1.9% share of the global airline passenger travel market thus far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJuly\u2019s performance continued to be strong, with some markets approaching pre-COVID levels. And that is even with capacity constraints in parts of the world that were unprepared for the speed at which people returned to travel.
