Vice President Jessica Alupo has commended the Lions Club of Uganda for working with government in partnerships and programs that promote economic growth of the people and development of the  country .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alupo, in a message delivered by Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba at  Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala during  the visit of the immediate Past International President (IPIP) and LCIF chairperson, Douglas X Alexander to Uganda hailed the Lions Club of Uganda for its  development work especially in the Uganda\u2019s health sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWorking together with the Ministry of Health, Lions of Uganda have actively participated in social mobilization of the masses to carry out  measles vaccination. The have also contribute to the campaign  to eradicate river blindness through collaborative approaches with the Carter Centre (a foundation spear headed by your Past American President, creation of awareness and testing of diabetes. They Lions Club has also supported efforts to to eliminate  childhood cancer and avoidance of preventable blindness amongst our people,\u201d the vice President observed .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added: \u201cI therefore would like on behalf of the government to thank and commend the association and its members for their kindness  and feeling of love they continue to extend  to society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alupo said that what is left is to support the Carter Center to provide capacity building for Ugandans in a concerted effort  to completely flash out river blindness. She tasked them to take interest in finding out what additional support is needed to eliminate river blindness in Uganda .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lions Clubs International, a world -wide voluntary service organization has been in existence for over 100 years, which according to Alupo  is a clear manifestation of its deep-rooted service history and pedigree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have also learnt that Lions Clubs International and its members are women and men of kind hearts, volunteers who go out of their way to help and support those persons who are less fortunate than themselves. I find the Lions members’ spirit of voluntarism and kindness unique and worthy of embracing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Daglous X was in East Africa for a working visit to personally find out how the projects that the foundation supports through Lions of Uganda have performed and impacted the lives of communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
