Lands Minister has been in Mityana district mobilizing hundreds of women to embrace the new government’s Parish Model Development (PMD) program to fight poverty at the household level .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister said the program if well handled and taken on by the people at the parish and village level it will help many to get into the money economy . ” We want to help out people to have money in their pockets , to add value to our produce and increase household incomes ,” She stressed .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Government ministers led by the Prime Minister Robinnah Nabbanja are canvassing the country side to encourage the masses to actively participate in the nation-wide development intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Government announced that it will give each of the 10,000-plus parishes in the country Shs100m annually, up from the previous Shs19m approved by Parliament, to kickstart PDM project. This, the government believes, will lift subsistence households out of poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PDM has seven Pillars that include – production, storage, processing and marketing; infrastructure
and economic services;- financial inclusion; social services; mindset change; – parish based management information System
