Benjamin Chew\u00a0confirmed <\/a>that his now-viral courtroom celebration came because he knew Amber Heard\u2019s decision to mention unfounded rumors about Depp\u2019s treatment of another famous ex, Kate Moss, would be a turning point in unraveling her testimony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was an instance in which Ms. Heard actually did admit to punching Johnny, and that was what we call the \u2018staircase incident,\u201d the now-celebrity lawyer told the outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He recalled how Heard told the court she \u201chad to punch Johnny\u201d or else he would \u201chave pushed her sister Whitney down the stairs the same way she had heard that he had pushed Kate Moss down the stairs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI lost my composure for a moment and did a fist-pump because I knew that was not true,\u201d Chew, 60, said of his caught-on-camera celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnny Depp\u2019s lawyer Ben Chew has revealed why he did a little fist pump when Amber Heard\u2019s attorney mentioned Kate Moss in the court.Law&Crime Network<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, he insisted that Heard\u2019s mention of the British supermodel \u201cput a lot of pressure on us \u2014 we really had to come up with the goods.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFortunately, Ms.\u00a0Moss came forward<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 and this is a woman who has never testified, ever, for any reason,\u201d he said.\u201cShe wanted to correct the record, and she did so quite explicitly,\u201d he recalled, detailing how Moss said Depp had never hit, kicked or pushed her during their three-year relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was \u201can important moment \u2026 because it debunked a defense to what otherwise appeared to be an instance of violence\u201d by Heard, contradicting her long-held allegations of being the victim rather than the perpetrator of violence in their toxic marriage, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chew called the trial \u201cso much fun\u201d because Depp was \u201cso funny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He choked up at recalling the moment they knew they\u2019d won the case for the defamed star, saying, \u201cIt was emotional. I mean, we were so thrilled for him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Depp was \u201ceuphoric\u201d when they spoke to him afterward. \u201cHe always looks great, but to me he looked 10 years younger,\u201d Chew said. \u201cI mean, it looked like the weight of the world was off his shoulders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chew also noted the\u00a0newfound fame<\/a>\u00a0aimed at him and his colleague, Camille Vasquez, who has since\u00a0been made partner\u00a0<\/a>in her firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor me, as a 60-year-old lawyer, [the newfound fame] was quite embarrassing,\u201d Chew told Law&Crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
