President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his counterpart Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan have stated that the two neighboring countries will collaborate to ensure the security of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) after a bilateral meeting they held at State House Entebbe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Samia Suluhu Hassan was in Uganda for a two-day State visit at the invitation of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.\u00a0According to a communiqu\u00e9 that was issued\u00a0 after the meeting, the two presidents were briefed on the joint cooperation on security for the East African Crude Oil Pipe Line.\u00a0 Also present were the Minister of state for Energy Okaasai Sidronius Opolot and Permanent Secretary Eng. Irene Bateebe and the Head of Communication at the Energy Ministry Dr. Patricia Litho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also agreed that Tanzania shall charge 10 Dollars per 100 Kilometers per truck from Mutukula to Dar es Salaaam starting Financial Year 2022\/2023 effective 1st July 2022. It was further agreed that Uganda shall supply 10,000 tonnes to cover the sugar gap in Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
