{"id":5217,"date":"2022-03-06T12:37:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T12:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugandaupdatenews.com\/?p=5217"},"modified":"2022-03-06T12:38:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-06T12:38:00","slug":"uganda-muslim-supreme-council-asks-ministry-of-lands-to-secure-its-land-in-mbarara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prowebinhost.com\/anzu\/uganda-muslim-supreme-council-asks-ministry-of-lands-to-secure-its-land-in-mbarara\/","title":{"rendered":"UGANDA MUSLIM SUPREME COUNCIL ASKS MINISTRY OF LANDS TO SECURE ITS LAND IN MBARARA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><\/td><td>Uganda Muslim Supreme Council in Mbarara district has requested Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba to assist them secure their land title for the land housing the Muslim headquarters of Western Uganda.<br><br>The land is located on Plot 177 block 2 sheet 86\/1\/14 measuring 47.8 hectare and was apportioned and allocated  to the Muslim community in 1928 which was then referred to as- Mohammedan Community by Ankole Kingdom under British colonial administration. Over time, this land has been subjected to encroachments by individual land grabbers but who due to the legal historical background in regard to the boundaries the said land -could not secure a private title from the lands office.<br><br>At  a meeting that was convened by lands minister at Nyamitanga Mosque in Mbarara district, Siraj Ntutumo the District General Secretary of the  Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Mbarara thanked  Lnads Minister Nabakooba for her intervention to resolve  the issue. He said the land y has tenants on it and they have been there for some time.\u00a0<br><br>\u201cEver since people took up the land, we don\u2019t have the powers to evict them, it is the government with the authority to advise. We want the government to get us the Kashenyi land title to carry out development activities . <br><br> Minister Nabakooba said  that given the parties involved were will to negotiate and find an amicable settlement , she was going to send a team of land experts from the ministry to that will discuss with the parties involved  and come up with practical recommendations that can work for them.<br><br>Nabakooba said that she  would then  take  the recommendations to President Museveni  further guidance.<br><br>Sheikh Abdullah Muhammad Mukwaya the district Kadhi Mbarara appreciated the minister\u2019s coming to listen to their issues and said it is a sign that something positive will come out of the talks .<br>&#8220;We won\u2019t evict occupants of this land because we are civilised people but we want justice to see to be done by compensating us.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/gmail\/about\/policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer
