The first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs, Rt.Hon. Rebecca A. Kadaga has called for more inclusion of women worker in tax-financed health coverage and social benefit protections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWomen workers are more likely than men to have the lowest paid and least protected jobs, often in the informal sector where they are excluded from tax-financed health coverage and from social benefit protections, such as pensions, social insurance, paid sick leave, or parental and care leave,\u201d Kadaga observed in a speech that was read for her by the Minister of Lands -Hon. Judith Nabakooba at the launch of season 5 of the rising women initiative . The launch was held at Sheraton hotel in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am still very much in support of this agenda because even when Uganda has registered tremendous success towards gender equality, many women continue to receive unfair treatment at their workplaces be it in self-employment or otherwise,\u201d Kadaga said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that at family level if women are given the support to manage and execute their dreams, the multiplier benefits from it are highly likely to impact and improve the welfare of that particular homestead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rising Woman ,Women in Business Initiative is supported by the Uganda Investment Authority, DFCU bank among othes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over 60,000 women have directly benefited from the project since its inception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
