Tax experts have urged Uganda Revenue Authority \u00a0(URA) to intensify its civic engagement programs to educate and inform Ugandans about the importance of paying taxes on time especially among the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to boost tax revenue collection in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The experts also called upon Uganda\u2019s tax body to ramp-up its on going tax barazas and simplify its registration processes like obtaining Tax Identification numbers (TINS) and ensure that its online (E-services) are simplified and user friend to stamp out corruption .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the experts Gyaviira Busulwa, attributed the failure by some SMEs to meet their tax obligations to lack of information about the tax laws and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that URA should exhibit professionalism in handling tax payers and matters especially when dealing with SMEs who lack information and knowledge about the tax laws and procedures . \u201c The people don\u2019t know because of our poor tax compliance culture and majority don\u2019t resources to hire tax experts, accountants and auditors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thaddeus Naggenda from Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) said his traders will be mobilise to formalize their businesses and make it easy to pay taxes .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
