Pope France has appointed Bishop Paul Ssemogerere the new Archbishop of Kampala archdiocese , according to the\u00a0Apostolic Nunciature to Uganda, Archbishop Luigi Bianco .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He replaces late Bishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who died on April 3, 2021. Bishop Ssemogerere has been the Apostolic Administrator of Kampala archdiocese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m greatly humbled and honored to be appointed Archbishop. The clergy, myself and faithful have been praying fervently for the new Archbishop. I gather courage to take on this responsibility. I ask you to pray for me as I pray for you,\u201d the new Bishop Ssemogerere stated .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was born June 30, 1956 in Kisubi Wakiso District and studied at St Mbaaga Seminary at Ggaba. In 1978, the late Cardinal Emmanuel Kiwanuka Nsubuga sent Ssemogerere to the Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States, where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1982.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
