More than 600 delegates are attending the high level – first Tanzania-Uganda Oil and Gas Symposium in Dar es Salaam and they will be joined by the Ugandan leader – President Yoweri Museveni and his counterpart HE Samia Sululu Hassan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of the symposium is ‘Enhancing private sector participation \u00a0in the oil and gas sector’. It is \u00a0taking place on November 27 and 28 at Julius Nyerere International \u00a0Convention in Dar es Salaam.\u00a0\u00a0Earlier , Uganda’s Energy Minister Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa told the symposium that the Host Government Agreements signed by both states required both governments to enact legislation that would facilitate the development of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

” I want to thank the government of Tanzania for passing this important legislation, in August 2021. Government of Uganda has also progressed with its enabling legislation which is now before Parliament and is expected to be passed into law before the end of November 2021.,” Nankabirwa stated adding that the two legislations fulfil the major requirements on the side of the two states for the development of the EACOP. “We now eagerly await the full implementation of
the project by the oil companies,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nankabirwa further told the meeting that physical works to have oil production by 2025 in Uganda have commenced in some of the upstream project areas with civil works on the Central Processing Facility (CPF) of Tilenga in full gear as well as land acquisition for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) in both Uganda and Tanzania. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
