The NRM Party Secretary General Hon. Richard Todwong has rallied NRM Leaders in Bukedi sub-region to work towards improving the wanaichi’s livelihoods and transform communities . He was on a two day tour of districts that make-up\u00a0 Bukedi sub-region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Todwong said that many leaders have neglected their roles to lead the masses out of poverty irrespective of the many government interventions put in place to improve people’s incomes in the country side. “The people you lead have detached themselves from you because you seem unbothered and less concerned about issues that touch their daily lives. The people instead look at you as self-seekers who are in leadership to empower yourselves,” Todwong told the NRM district Chairpersons and other structure leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Todwong was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja Nsereko, the National Treasurer Amb Barbra Nekesa, the Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi, Hon Rosemary Sseninde, the director Mobilisation and Cadre development, the director Information and PR, Hon Emmanuel Lumala Dombo among others, have since yesterday been on a tour of Bukedi sub-region which comprises of Budaka, Butaleja, Tororo, Busia, Palisa, Butebo and Kibuku districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NRM party boss explained that the meetings held within the region are meant to remind the leaders to renew their emotional attachment and relationship in a bid to win back the hearts of party supporters, grow party popularity and consolidate the\u00a0 NRM government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The party boss is convinced that reconnecting to the ordinary people at the grassroots is the best mobilisation strategy for the NRM mass party.
Mr. Todwong also reiterated his call to government through the ministry of Local Government to introduce an amendment in the Local Government Act which if allowed will see the NRM Chairpersons at various levels to sit in councils as Ex-Officials. He insists that it is the NRM party which was elected to form government based on its manifesto presented to the people during campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hon Namayanja promised unprecedented cohesion between the Party Secretariat and all relevant party structures from district to the grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“For long, our party has not performed up to its expectation due to internal bickering and unnecessary friction, we come here to preach to you about unity and commitment if we are to achieve our set agenda,” Hon Namayanja said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also asked the local leaders to be vigilant and intensify the monitoring of progress of all government programs like Emyooga, Parish development model, Operation Wealth creation among others which are being implemented within their areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amb Nekesa Oudo said the visit a few months after inauguration in the region will help identify and iron out any pending issues which maybe be in relation to party and government performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Hon Sseninde, the tour will help the party’s top leadership to appreciate peoples conditions and forge a suitable away forward based on facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We come here on a fact finding mission to identity issues hurting our people lives and as well set a tone for monitoring service delivery for the next five years,” Sseninde explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
