Local urban centers especially the newly created cities must work towards having approved physical master plans that will facilitate the provision of  basic services, infrastructure, and affordable housing for the- everyday expanding population, according to Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also called for proper waste\/solid management and keeping the cities clean . Nabakooba made the remarks while officiating at the ground-breaking ceremony for Usmid-af project road works in Masaka city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that after attaining the city status Masaka under the  the USMID Program has secured two garbage and implored the city authorities to ensure that all the projects undertaken in the USMID-AF program are completed with  in the allocated two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlease work hard and fast and serve the people of Masaka with all the projected infrastructure works, capacity and institutional strengthening, and involve all the technical and  political human resource,\u201d the Minister urged .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The civil works which will be undertaken under the USMID-AF program in  Masaka include , Hill road, Birch avenue ,Baines ,circular roads, Circular Rise, Barracks and  Alexander roads. The Katwe bypass  will also be worked on and  solar street lighting installed along  Nyendo , Kitovu  and Speke roads.  The works will cost an estimated  UGX 39Bn .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was attended by the USMID-AF National Project Coordinator , Eng. Dr. Isaac Mutenyo was has been widely praised for presiding over a largely successful multi-billion world bank funded project which is now being implemented in 30 municipalities and refugee hosting districts in all regions across the country .  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
