The World Bank multi-billion funded Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID-AF) program-is premised on the need to uplift municipalities through improved urban infrastructure and institutional capacity strengthening, the Minister of Lands , Housing and Urban Development, Hon . Judith Nabakooba has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister told the people of Mubende that USMID is a Program for Results (PforR)- which means that the level of funding available will be dependent on the performance of the local governments .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Already ,the Ministry of Lands technical teams are carrying out mock assessment for the FY 2020\/2021, by Independent Verification Agent whose results will determine which local governments will be funded more under the USMID -AF program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nabakooba said that Mubende has been offered UG.Shs.34.7bn to uplift the municipal infrastructure and challenged the area Town Clerk and technical team, to pass these assessments highly and get all the need money for their sub-projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nabakooba was presiding over the ground breaking of Lubanga road, Second Link and Kabalega-Kasana bypass roads which kickstarted a phase of civil works in Mubende town that will last 18 months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She urged the contractor (China Wu Yi Company) together with the Consultant (UB Consulting) to give the people of mubende quality works and within the timelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She called upon the Municipality Councillors together with the Municipal Development Forum (MDF) to monitor the projects to ensure they get value for money . \u201cCommunity participation and stakeholder engagements are very important components of this project,\u201d She stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the same function , Mr. Muhereza Ntambi, the District Chairman Mubende requested the Minister \u00a0to follow-up 80bn presidential pledge \u00a0under the Land Fund\u00a0 to help bibanja holders \u00a0acquire titles especially in areas where land evictions are rampant .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
