{"id":4202,"date":"2021-10-06T12:37:50","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T12:37:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugandaupdatenews.com\/?p=4202"},"modified":"2021-10-06T12:37:55","modified_gmt":"2021-10-06T12:37:55","slug":"nabakooba-commissions-usmid-af-road-works-in-entebbe-says-politicians-should-join-hands-to-support-government-projects-in-their-constituencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prowebinhost.com\/anzu\/nabakooba-commissions-usmid-af-road-works-in-entebbe-says-politicians-should-join-hands-to-support-government-projects-in-their-constituencies\/","title":{"rendered":"Nabakooba commissions USMID-AF road works in Entebbe says politicians should join hands to support government projects in their constituencies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><\/td><td>\u00a0 <strong>By Ronald Mugabi<\/strong><br><br>Lands, Housing and Urban Development minister Judith Nabakooba has commissioned \u00a0the construction of roads and beautification of Entebbe Municipality under the multi- billion Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program. \u00a0 <br><br>The Minister called for -value for money and told the contractor- China Wu Yi Company Ltd and the supervising consultants to deliver high quality works and on time . \u201cEntebbe is a very strategic town \u00a0in our country, because you host \u00a0president\u2019s official \u00a0residence ,the International Airport, the UN base, other important \u00a0sites like the Zoo, \u00a0lake Victoria \u00a0and its beautiful \u00a0beaches. <br><br>Entebbe can affect the first impression of a new visitor to Uganda. This means, you influence our tourism and you must be exemplary,\u2019 Nabakooba stated . \u00a0<br><br> Hon. Nabakooba who was received \u00a0in the area by the Entebbe Municipality Mayor Fabrice Rulinda and RDC Nuhu Njuki -for the groundbreaking ceremony- flagged-off\u00a0 the construction works estimated to cost \u00a0Shs13.4bn \u00a0and to be completed in a\u00a0period of 15 months. <br><br>Civil works will be carried out on \u00a0Kampala Road, Apolo square, Auxiliary road, Market street access, \u00a0Hill lane access, Lugard road access and upgrading the Kitoro taxi park phase I. \u00a0Lights will also  be installed at \u00a0the mayor\u2019s gardens and general \u00a0beautification of the municipality.<br><br><a> T<\/a>he roads will  have pedestrian walk ways, covered drains, conduits for utilities like Telecoms and IT, water and sewerage, electricity, bicycle ways, trees, \u00a0garbage cans, waiting shades, street parking and good solar street lights. \u201c I will come to be part of the commissioning, to pride ourselves in the great work we shall have delivered to \u00a0the people of Entebbe,\u201d the Minister stated . <br><br>Nabakooba noted that since Entebbe municipality was part of the 14 pioneer -local governments to benefit under the \u00a0USMID program, they already have the competences to ensure that all the program expectations are met . <br><br>The Entebbe Municipality Mayor Fabrice Rulinda \u00a0said that the Entebbe community\u00a0 was ready for business and economic growth that is anticipated as a results of improved services due to modern infrastructure .\u201cWe \u00a0have a rich history and a lot to offer. We don\u2019t want people to just \u00a0go to the beach. We want to transform \u00a0Entebbe into one of the most beautiful cities in Uganda . <br><br>The RDC Nuhu Njuki \u00a0vowed to superintend- over\u00a0 the implementation of all government programs in the area to \u00a0ensure the delivery of quality , timely public services to the people . \u00a0 \u00a0 The Deputy Town Clerk .Ms. Aisha Kitenda \u00a0pledged her technical staff\u2019s commitment to supervise and have the \u00a0successful implementation of the project works. \u00a0 \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/u\/0\/settings\/storage?hl=en&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;utm_source=gmail&amp;utm_campaign=storage_meter&amp;utm_content=storage_high\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a> \u00a0<br><br>The event was also attended by the USMID -AF Project Coordinator , Dr. Eng.
