The new NRM Party Secretary General Rt Hon Richard Todwong has vowed to fight intrigue and general indiscipline especially among senior leaders . He promised to unit the party members , grow the party membership country wide and ensure strict implementation of the NRM party manifesto to foster economic growth and national development .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While receiving instruments of power from his predecessor Hon Justine Kasule, Todwong thanked the party National Chairman President Yoweri Museveni for entrusting him with such a big office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to pledge loyalty, dedication, commitment and regular consultation in the due course of executing my duties at hand as a party Secretary General,\u201d Todwong sated<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lumumba last week assumed her new role as Minister in charge of General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, after seven years at the helm of the ruling party.She replaced the Rt Hon John Patrick Amama Mbabazi in December 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs a team leader, I will endeavour to discourage intrigue, indiscipline and laziness instead I will work towards improving unity cohesion and motivation among staff and members of the party\u201d, Todwong added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also encouraged open positive criticism and advice from party members and all well-wishers that strive to make NRM more competitive and a vibrant party. Among those who witnessed the smooth transfer of power included NRM 1st Vice National Chairman, Hajji Moses Kigongo, and 2nd deputy Prime Minister Gen Moses Ali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lumumba handed over the party manifesto, Election Review Report, official car, NRM flag, and party constitution among others. Others materials handed over to the new Secretary General include Uganda flag, party seal, Bank details and Uganda constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During her tenure, the party has registered victory in two general elections from the Presidential to local councils including the recent January elections and that of 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NRM has also enhanced strategic partnership with revolutionary and vibrant parties from the African continent and those overseas. These include China Peoples\u2019 Communist Party (CPC) of China, Chama cha Mapenduzi (CCM) of Tanzania, ANC of South Africa, and Jubilee of Kenya among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lumumba shall also be remembered for initiating and making an NRM digitalized register that has a membership of over 13 million Ugandans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other achievements include buying space where the party headquarters are sitting, procurement and distribution of bicycles and motorcycles to NRM village chairpersons and sub county chairpersons respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
