Kampala district has registered another 1,000 new Covid -19 cases a day after government started implementing a 42-days partial lockdown as announced by President Yoweri Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Official figures released by the Ministry of Health revealed an alarming increase in infection rates with in Kampala that recorded 998 new cases , Wakiso 135, Luwero 105, Mbarara 37, Arua 24 Tororo 26 brining the total number of new Covid -19 cases to 1,566. At least 408 Ugandans have died after contracting the deadly virus and 784 active cases are on admission at various health facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health officials reported a shortage of ICU beds in all hospitals in Kampala as Covid-19 patients were referred to home care treatment . Kampala Resident City Commisioner who is also the Covid-19 Kampala Task Force Chairman , Hudu Hussein expressed regret that many traders in -down town were not following the new set Covid -19 SOPs to stem the spread of the disease .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hudu Hussein has since called upon President Yoweri museveni and the national Covid-19 Task Force to impose a total lockdown in Kampala saying the one week notice given to the business community to follow the SOPs has not yielded positive results . <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
