The Ministry of Health has increased the bracket of those eligible for vaccination to include people who are 50 years plus and Ugandans between the ages of 18 years and 50 who have underlying conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, liver, heart or kidney diseases .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her weekly media briefing Information Minister Judith Nabakooba told the nation that as Uganda continues to battle the deadly Covid -19 pandemic , at least 144,025 people have so far been vaccinated .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nabakooba also reiterated the Ministry of Health assurances to Ugandans that vaccine being administered is safe the reason why President Museveni and First Lady Janet were vaccinated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c The vaccine may not stop you from getting COVID-19 but it reduces the harshness of the disease in case you get it. Therefore, I call upon every member of the public to do their part by supporting all eligible persons to go for vaccination,\u201d Nabakooba stated stressing that \u201cthe vaccine is our hope towards ending the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nabakooba used the same media briefing to warn S.6 candidates to guard against cheating in the on-going national final examinations..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 98,393 students are writing their final UNEB exams which are being conducted under a new UNEB law that was passed last month. Punishment for offenses under exam malpractices have been increased from six months imprisonment to five years. This might also include a fine of five million shillings or both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister said that candidates with special needs have been given extra support to enable them do their exams including candidates with advanced pregnancies as well as breast feeding mothers who are given an extra 45 minutes to complete their papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
