Government has warned Ugandans against participating in any illegal activities planned between February and 3rd and 7th.   <\/sup>to cause chaos and insecurity around the country .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her weekly media briefing  the Minister of Information and National Guidance , Ms. Judith Nabakooba said that government had received  information that some criminal elements were spreading harmful propaganda that the country  will shut down during those days .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey are intimidating taxi drivers and the public  against being on the road and places of work during those days. The country is safe and security will work fast to arrest anyone planning to create chaos,\u201d Nabakooba stated .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda registers record 40,000 cases of   Covid 19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister also reported that  Uganda has now registered a record  40,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic that has left  324   Ugandans dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKampala area and the  neighboring districts of Wakiso, Mukono still accounts for 50 percent of all cases countrywide. We have also witnessed the overcrowding in and around the courts of law with supporters gathering to follow their candidates  petitions. This is dangerous and must be stopped ,\u201d she said  while reiterating ,the Chief Justice , Owiny Dollo\u2019s directive limiting the number of litigants accessing court premises at any given time to avoid the spread of coronavirus due to overcrowding  .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGoing forward, we have all been advised to stay away from the courts of law limiting presence to only the immediate parties and their lawyers. The communication from the Chief Justice is meant to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and strengthen the existing SOPs, \u201c Nabakooba explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that cabinet will consider a report prepared by the Ministry of Education  about preparations to reopen schools for all learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCabinet sitting tomorrow will receive a full report on the state of preparedness .As we wait for guidance from our scientists and His Excellency the President, I call upon all academic institutions to continue working on the expected Standard Operating Procedures,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
