NRM’s Salim Uhuru is the only candidate from the ruling party that won a mayoral seat in Kampala after he garnered 13,114 votes to beat his closest rival and NUP\u2019s Hamudan Kigozi Ssemugoma who got 10654 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Incumbent, Charles Musoke Sserunjogi came in third with 5318 votes. After winning , Uhuru declared that his win was a gift to the NRM which has not won in Kampala for a long time . \u201cThis is a gift for RNM as a party. National Unity Platform NUP won in Rubaga division where incumbent and Forum for Democratic Change\u2019s Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo lost to Zacchy Mberaze Mawula and \u00a0Ali Mulyanyama another NUP candidate won the race\u00a0to retain his position as the division mayor in Makindye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
