Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has a new boss Ms Mercy Kainobwisho. The URSB Board of Directors led by Ambassador Francis Butagira announced Kainobwisho’s appointment as the new Registrar General (RG) after she emerged the winner of interviews conducted recently . She beat her colleague , Mr. Vincent Katutsi , the Director Business Registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Kainobwisho\u2019s appointment follows the departure of long serving RG and CEO of URSB, Mr Bemanya Twebaze who was recently elected the Director General, Africa Intellectual Property Organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement issued yesterday by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance said Ms Kainobwisho emerged the successful candidate after beating seven others during internal interviews on December 2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 41-year-old lawyer previously served as the director of Intellectual Property at URSB, \u00a0head of Business Services Bureau and manager of Intellectual Property and has been very active on social media promoting the work of the URSB. During her tenure as the Director of intellectual Property Registration, Kainobwisho has worked tirelessly to promote and protect the intellectual property of Ugandan innovators , including but not limited to Kiira Motors Corporation, (KMC), Uganda’s Automotive Industry flagship – who are championing home grown green mobility technologies in the EAC region and African continent .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiira Motors has put Uganda on the global car market map by producing fully electric buses -the Kayoola EVS the first of the kind in Africa. The company with support from the government of Uganda is constructing a world class vehicle plant( now at 65% completion )- at the Jinja Industrial and Business park where 22 vehicles will be produced everyday starting mid next year . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Uganda Registration Services Bureau<\/strong>\u00a0(URSB) is a semi-autonomous government agency, established by Act of Parliament in 1998 in\u00a0Uganda<\/a>.
