The ruling \u00a0National\u00a0 Resistance Movement party has fielded the highest number of candidates for the 2021 general elections . Statistics show that NRM has \u00a0\u00a043,849\u00a0 (\u00a073%), candidates ahead of the rest of the pack -followed by FDC\u00a0with\u00a0 6,528\u00a0representing (11%). The NRM also has 11 unopposed MPs and several local council leaders who have sailed through without opponents . There is no other national party which has unopposed candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newly formed NUP is ahead of other traditional and long established parties such as DP and UPC with 4,955 (8%), candidates running on the party \u2018s ticket for various positions across the country .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DP has 2,244 (4%),UPC ,1,639 ( 3%), ANT ,737( 1%) and JEEMA fielding 146( 0.2%) candidates .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the country prepares for the hotly contested 2021 general elections , figures from the Electoral Commission show that the 11th<\/sup> parliament will have a total of 529 MPs the highest number since independence, according to Mr. Paul Bukenya , the EC Spokesman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n .<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said there will be 146 District Women MPs and 353 elected Constituency MPs. The special interest groups will have the Youth MPs 5,Workers\u2019 MPs 5, MPs for PWDs 5,MPs for UPDF. 10 and a new additional special group of MPs for Elderly 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Electoral Commission will conduct the elections in 146 districts with 353 constituencies, 312 Counties, 2,184 Sub-Counties and 10,595 parishes.
