Uganda \u2018s President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is himself seeking for re-election , is among world leaders who have congratulated the USA President elect Jeo Biden and Vice President elect Kamala Harris upon their victory in a tightly won race even when their opponent incumbent Donald Trump is yet to concede the election .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his congratulatory message Museveni said ; \u201cm the People of Uganda. The USA, with its big black population of 47.4 million people, as well as a large Christian population that are linked with us by faith, with deep thinking, could easily be a natural ally of Uganda and Africa,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni noted that the previous American Presidents have already started on positively using the positive linkages by putting in place the African Growth And Opportunity Act (AGOA) \u2013 a law that, since 18th May 2000, has been giving 6,500 types of African goods, quota free, tax- free access to the USA market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe salute this policy and hope that President Biden will maintain it. We, therefore, congratulate the American People on exercising their right by, massively, voting for the candidates of their choice: President Trump and Vice- President Biden. We congratulate H.E. Biden for winning both the Popular vote and the Electoral College,\u201d President Museveni stated .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US President-elect Joe Biden is to make tackling the coronavirus pandemic his top priority following his win over Donald Trump, his team says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Announcing the first steps in his transition plan, his team said there would be more testing and Americans would be asked to wear masks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, Mr Biden is expected to name a 12-member coronavirus task force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Trump has yet to concede and Mr Biden’s win remains a projection as key states are still counting votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
