The new US Ambassador to Uganda who was sworn last week Ms.Natalie E. Brown is in Kampala to officially assume her new role .<\/strong>Natalie arrived in Uganda over the weekend and according to a statement  issued by the US embassy and  she is committed to ensuring stronger ties between Uganda and the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After arriving into the country, Natalie went into a 14-day quarantine as prescribed by the Centre for Disease Control and Uganda\u2019s Ministry of Health due to the Coronavirus scare. In brief tweet she stated , \u201c\u201cI am thrilled to be here. I look forward to getting to know Uganda and  building on the strong U.S.-Ugandan partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the US Embassy, Natalie E. Brown is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor.  She was confirmed by the Senate as U.S. Ambassador to Uganda on August 6, 2020 to replace Deborah Malac who ended  her five-year tour of duty to Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natalie previously served as the Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Asmara, Eritrea between 2016 and 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has also served as the Deputy Permanent Representative and Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Mission to the UN Agencies in Rome, Italy from 2013-2016, where she was elected to represent North America on the Finance Committee of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Brown also served as Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia from 2010-2013 as that country transitioned from dictatorship to democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThroughout her career, Ambassador Brown has garnered experience in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy with a geographic focus on Africa and the Middle East,\u201d the Us Embassy said of the new Ambassador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Brown\u2019s previous assignments include service as the Economic Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan and as the Political Chief of the U.S. Embassy Kuwait City, Kuwait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Washington, she served twice in the State Department Executive Secretariat\u2019s Operations Center, including as a Senior Watch Officer on September 11, and as an International Affairs Officer in the Office of UN Political Affairs in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still earlier she was the State Department\u2019s Desk Officer for Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger in the Office of West African Affairs. She also had assignments overseas in the U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and in the U.S Embassy Conakry, Guinea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Brown earned her B.S from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and was awarded her M.S. from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is an alumnus of the International Career Advancement Program and was the first State Department participant in the International Women\u2019s Forum Leadership Foundation Fellows Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Brown speaks French and Arabic and has studied Italian, German, Amharic, and Tigrinya.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
