{"id":1986,"date":"2020-10-04T14:30:45","date_gmt":"2020-10-04T14:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugandaupdatenews.com\/?p=1986"},"modified":"2020-10-04T14:30:58","modified_gmt":"2020-10-04T14:30:58","slug":"age-limit-restrictions-for-positions-of-chairpersons-abolished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prowebinhost.com\/anzu\/age-limit-restrictions-for-positions-of-chairpersons-abolished\/","title":{"rendered":"AGE LIMIT RESTRICTIONS FOR POSITIONS OF CHAIRPERSONS ABOLISHED"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td> \u00a0 Government has abolished age limit restrictions for\u00a0 all aspiring candidates for the position of chairperson at Subcounty, Municipality, City Division, Town councils and Municipal Division, Minister of \u00a0ICT and National Guidance , Ms. Judith Nabakooba has announced .\u00a0 \u00a0<br><br> In her weekly press biefing at the Ministry\u2019s headquarters ,Nabakooba said that government has Has amended the local government Act that had age \u00a0limit restrictions for all local government Political offices .\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Prior to the amendment, all aspiring candidates had to be 30 years and above and not exceeding 75.<br><br>\u00a0 However, The Minister explained that \u00a0President Yoweri Museveni had finally \u00a0agreed and signed off the amendment \u00a0that abolishes the above restrictions.\u00a0\u201cStarting with the ongoing electoral process, any aspiring candidate for the position of chairperson at local government level must only be \u00a0of 18years and above,\u201d she said.\u00a0 \u00a0<br><br> Nabakooba called upon all Ugandans above the age of 18 who aspire to become leaders to contest for the said positions without any restrictions.
