Government will consider easing lock down measures after studying a report which will be made by the national covid -19 taskforce, president Museveni has announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe national Covid-19 taskforce will meet on Tuesday to see what to do with the schools, churches, bars, and others. But people should be the custodians of their own health,\u201d President Musveni said at the weekend .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am glad that the majority of Ugandans listened to our message. There is a minority that doesn’t listen and still pose a problem. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Out of the 29 who have died, 20 are from Kampala,\u201d Museveni stated noting that the global novel- Covid -19 pandemic was still a serious health problem that should not be taken lightly .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an effort to calm growing anxiety among parents including those with candidate students the a new roadmap to re-open schools and universities as early as September ,2020 will be communicated to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health and education experts, however, have called on the government to put in place safety measures for all institutions of learning before the first term resumes given that the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic will still be prevalent across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There has been renewed calls from church leaders , schools owners and entertainment proprietors for government to re-open other sectors of the economy that have been ravaged by the five month total lockdown including a 9 hour curfew that has limited the movement of people .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many schools and other service industry businesses have closed down permanently due to the high cost of maintaining commercial enterprises in a prolonged lock down . Speaker of Parliament , Rebecca Kadaga has also weighed in urging for re-opening of the economy to easy of the economic suffering endured by many Ugandans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
