Ms. Rebecaa Alitwala Kadaga has reiterated her commitment to remain neutral while presiding over the business of the parliament of Uganda .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While appearing on a talk show on Busoga One FM, in Jinja city, where\u00a0 she \u00a0discussed Parliament\u2019s legislative business, politics and the country \u2018s \u00a0plans for holistic national development , stated that as Speaker she is duty bound to treat all members of parliament equally irrespective of their political affiliations .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs the Speaker, my job demands fairness and neutrality in dealing with leaders regardless of their political party inclinations. There are people who don’t understand multiparty politics; it means many parties in Parliament. There\u2019s NRM, FDC, DP, JEEMA, UPC and Independents. Under the Commonwealth, one has to be balanced. There are even politicians from the traditional opposition parties who are currently Ministers, \u201c she stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the country prepares for the 2021 general elections amid the global -novel- Covid 19 pandemic , Kadaga said that parliament has delivered on its constitutional mandate.\u201d We have passed the National Budget and also approved loan requests to grant government the financial means to implement its manifesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c I thank NRM party Members for voting me back into the Central Executive Committee (CEC) as 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female).
