President Museveni is set to commission an over $300 million cement plant in Moroto -Karamoja sub region .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yaobai Cement Uganda\u00a0 will officially launch its state-of-the-art cement plant in Moroto, in a landmark investment set to reshape Uganda\u2019s manufacturing sector as well as unlocking new economic potential in the minerals rich Karamoja sub-region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The factory is designed to produce 6,000\u201312,000 tonnes of clinker daily. This state-of-the-art facility, situated in the Karamoja sub-region, aims to transform the local economy, create jobs, and significantly reduce Uganda\u2019s reliance on cement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Located in Nadunget Sub-county, Moroto District,Phase I produces 6,000 tons of clinker daily, with plans for a total capacity of 12,000 tons per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plant is supported by a dedicated 35MW power line from UEDCL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0Construction began following the groundbreaking in 2023, with full operations expected to start soon after the 2026 commissioning.The project, which leverages local materials, is part of a broader push to turn Karamoja into an industrial hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
