Records Reduction In Crime Rate According To The 2025 Report Released by IGP Byakagaba"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Police has recorded a 10.2 percent reduction in crimes committed in 2025 compared to 2024, according to nation -wide report that has been released by the Inspector General of Police , Mr. Abas Byakagaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IGP Byakagaba expressed  optimistic that sub-county policing model being implemneted under the guidance of President yoweri Museveni coupled with clear police command structures across the country have begun to  yeild positive results in curbing crime rates as reflected in the new statistics .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Byakagaba  said police has so far covered about 56% of the sub- counties in 2025 and efforts continue  to cover all sub-counties  and provide them with irrelevant resources to bring down the crime rates furrther .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" there has also been increased use  force multiplies especially CCTV, F9 services, Forensic, better equipment\u2019s and other IT related solutions to detect , deter and confront crime head-on..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would like to note that, this is still work in progress, we are not yet fully to all the sub-counties .l believe once we get there, we shall have a better crime report in the years to come,\u201d Byagaba stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the 2025 Police annual crime report ampala region had  a total of 195,764 cases were reported last year, compared to the 218,000 cases that were reported\u00a0in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), Mr.Tom Magambo, said  that police has seen a cumulative reduction in the number of 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 115,301 cases were submitted\u00a0to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Out of these, 79,291 were taken to court, achieving over 31,700 convictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c Last year we registered 56,360 cases of theft. While this number is still high for us it was again a reduction compared to past years . So you realize that slowly there is\u00a0some work being done while we are not yet where we want to be . Assaults  cases were 26,366\u00a0which was also a decline compared to the 29,580 which we registered in 2024\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis represents  10.8 percent reduction . Sex related offenses registered\u00a0 were 12,500 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Stephen Tanui ,the Director police Fire prevention and rescue services said, the Directorate registered a total of 1,310 cases in 2025, compared to 1,595 cases in 2024, making a 17.9% decrease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police under the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has registered a total of 322,441 accident and other related traffic cases in 2025, compared to 426,432 cases in 2024, marking a 24.4% decrease compaared to  2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 26,044 road crashes were reported to the Police.
