A Ugandan prison warder,\u00a0Moses Anguyo (No. 13544)<\/strong>, who was on the run after killing four people at Kiboga Central Prison, was arrested in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anguyo was apprehended around 3:00 a.m. in Aru Town, Ituri Province, in the DRC by a joint security force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 23, 2026, Anguyo allegedly opened fire during a routine inspection at Kiboga Prison, killing four people: Deputy Officer in Charge, ASP Hope Catherine; third-in-command, POI Bright Akishuri; Sarah Ayebare (wife of the officer in charge); and a one-year-old child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preliminary reports suggest the shooting followed a reprimand for using WhatsApp while on duty. He had served for over a decade without promotion, prompting discussions about officer morale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Uganda Prisons Service had placed a UGX 10 million bounty on his head. His arrest was facilitated by information provided by his brothers and girlfriend, who were previously taken into custody.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josephine Angucia the Police Spokesperson for West Nile confirmed the arrest of Anguyo and said he he was extradited to Arua and is currently being detained in the cells awaiting transfer to Kiboga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPolice in Arua District (Vurra) together with prisons officers from Arua District and Headquarters have been coordinating this arrest, and had so far arrested 3 people, 2 were his brothers and a girl friend, who gave lead to this arrest..\u201d Angucia said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angucia added that Anguyo  is currently in the custody of West Nile Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEffort to take the suspect to Kiboga district where he committed the offence  are under way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
