GENEVA \u2013 18 March 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Airlines, airports, and ground handlers can now identify baggage disruptions, such as missed connections, mishandled bags, or operational bottlenecks, earlier using predictive insights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SITA has launched SITA Bag Radar, a cloud-based baggage analytics solution that turns operational baggage data into clear operational intelligence across the baggage journey.SITA (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Internationale de T\u00e9l\u00e9communications A\u00e9ronautiques) is\u00a0the world’s leading IT and telecommunication service provider for the air transport industry , serving roughly 90% of global airline business.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baggage mishandling remains one of the most visible and costly operational challenges in air transport. The data needed to prevent many disruptions already exists across baggage systems used by airlines and airports. SITA Bag Radar brings this data together and applies historical analysis, real-time monitoring, and AI-driven predictive insights to highlight risks before disruption spreads through operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAirlines and airports already generate huge volumes of baggage data every day, but much of that information has historically been used to investigate problems after disruption has already happened,\u201d said Nicole Hogg, Director of Baggage at SITA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform connects to existing baggage data sources including baggage information messages (BIMs) from SITA Baggage Messaging, WorldTracer, Baggage Reconciliation Systems (BRS), Departure Control Systems (DCS) and ensures interoperability with selected third-party systems. The solution consolidates these data streams into a single cloud-based analytics environment that provides visibility across the baggage journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operational teams can identify risks such as mishandled bags, missed connections, or emerging bottlenecks earlier. This visibility allows teams to intervene sooner and prevent disruption before it escalates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insights are delivered through dashboards accessible through a web browser. These dashboards give baggage and operations teams a clear view of performance and emerging risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting before issues escalate, intervention helps reduce mishandled bags, improve operational efficiency, and lower baggage handling and compensation costs. Passengers benefit from fewer delays and fewer lost bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SITA Bag Radar works with existing baggage infrastructure and connects to data sources already in place. Customers can deploy the solution without major infrastructure investment or complex system integration. Organizations can begin with historical analytics and expand to real-time monitoring and predictive insights as their operations evolve.
