The Minister of Local Government, Raphael Magyezi, has confirmed that the long-awaited Local Council I and II elections will be held in March and April ahead of the swearing-in of the new government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elections will be conducted through the traditional lining up methodin over 70,000 villages across the country .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister of Local Government,Raphael Magyezi, said that President Yoweri Museveni had directed the Ministry of Finance to provide Ug.Shs .56.9 billion to facilitate the elections exercise .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister said that the Electoral Commission will soon gazette and announce the dates on which the elections will be held . Magyezi ,however ,emphasised that the elections must take place between March 1st and April 30th , 2026 in anycase before the swearing of President Museveni and Members of Parliament .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The country last conducted the LC elections in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
