National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has denied allegations that he has called upon Ugandans to riot ahead of the 2026 general elections following President Yoweri Museveni\u2019s warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kyagulanyi was responding to the statements of president Yoweri Museveni who explained that it is suicidal for the public to believe that they can overwhelm the armed forces in a riot situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While speaking in Kisozi, December 17, Museveni warned against riots stressing that whoever attempts to destabilize the country will regret it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t listen to [Robert] Kyagulanyi; his comments about our security lack foresight,\u201d he said before adding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHis claim that there are not enough soldiers to match rioters is misguided. One soldier carries 120 bullets\u2026 do the math. Uganda can not be destabilised, and anyone who attempts it will live to regret.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the sametime , Museveni warned security personnel against using excessive force during elections, saying beatings and torture were unnecessary and avoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBeating people shows lack of patience. Torture during elections is not necessary, and I will engage the security forces on this,\u201d Museveni said, while stressing that maintaining peace remained a national priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo one will be allowed to disturb Uganda\u2019s peace. Those who attempt to cause disorder will be dealt with according to the law,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president also rejected arguments that security agencies are overstretched during public disorder, saying discipline and organisation, rather than numbers, are key to maintaining law and order. \u201cI have heard statements suggesting there are few soldiers and many rioters. Peace and order are maintained through organisation, not numbers alone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
