Uganda\u2019s mobility flagship Kiira Motors Corporation’s 2025 model -13 meter Kayoola Coach – now on a 13,000 kilometres expedition across six African countries , has arrived in South Africa’s city of Johannesburg .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expedition team, led by Uganda\u2019s High Commissioner to South Africa Paul Amoru arrived at at Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry ,and was greeted by members of the South African private sector, officials from the South Africa\u2019s Department of Science and Technology and diplomatic representatives from the East African Community (EAC) diplomatic missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expedition team has also engaged with the University of Johannesburg\u2019s Department of Electric Vehicle Innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda launched the Made in Uganda Grand Trans-Africa Electric Expedition, a historic 30-day journey that will cover some 13,000 kilometres across six African nations of Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, and South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expedition was designed to serve as a powerful declaration of Uganda\u2019s technological advancement and industrial leadership, presenting homegrown solutions that address continental challenges in mobility and climate change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The journey, powered by the Kayoola Electric Coach 13M (Model 2025), manufactured by Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC), is a rolling exhibition of African ingenuity, proving that locally-designed technology is reliable and scalable for long-distance, cross-border use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This mission is positioned to activate new regional markets, position Uganda as a hub for high-value manufacturing, and reinforce a Pan-African vision for industrial resilience and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Made in Uganda Grand Trans-Africa Electric Expedition, therefore , is a powerful symbol of Africa\u2019s ambition and resilience. As the Kayoola Electric Coach traverses the continent, it carries a core message: African solutions can solve African challenges, redefining the future of transport, climate action, and industrial growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
