Team Uganda has returned home following a spirited and competitive game at the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although the country\u2019s three representatives did not secure a podium finish, their performance reaffirmed Uganda\u2019s growing presence and ambition in regional amateur golf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trio who included Gabriel Amani Beau, James Abiria, and Irene Sekabembe, qualified for the finale after excelling in the local NCBA Golf Series events held in Kampala, Jinja, and Entebbe. At Muthaiga\u2014one of East Africa\u2019s most challenging championship courses, they showcased discipline, composure, and resilience, drawing praise from NCBA Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer, Mark Muyobo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTheir composure on such a demanding course speaks volumes about the caliber of talent we have at home. This experience will inspire emerging golfers across the country. As NCBA, we remain committed to exposing Ugandan golfers to regional competition and giving them the platforms they need to grow,\u201d Muyobo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Muyobo added that Uganda\u2019s continued presence in the regional finale reflects the sport\u2019s rapid development at home, driven by increased participation from women, juniors, and emerging amateurs. He emphasized that the NCBA Golf Series remains central to nurturing this momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now in its third season, the NCBA Golf Series has grown into one of East Africa\u2019s most influential amateur golf circuits, providing players with exposure, cross-border competition, and access to a diverse network of clubs and talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the awards gala in Nairobi, NCBA Group Managing Director, John Gachora, reflected on the five-year journey of the Series.
\u201cWhen we launched the NCBA Golf Series in 2021, our goal was to grow the sport, nurture talent, and bring communities together. Five years later, I am extremely proud of what we have achieved collectively,\u201d Gachora said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past five years, NCBA has invested more than Shs5.6billion (KES 200million), engaged over 10,000 golfers, supported more than 400 tournaments, and partnered with nearly all major golf clubs across East Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2025 season alone featured 38 regional events and culminated in a Grand Finale that drew 250 golfers, including 90 qualifiers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the trio settles back home, their experience at Muthaiga is expected to energize the local golfing community and inspire a new generation of amateurs aiming for regional success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
