Ugandan runner turned out to be become champion of the 2025 Chicago Marathon earning himself USD 100,000 in prize money. The 24-year-old finished the race with an unofficial time of 02:02:23 on just his second ever run over 26.2 miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kiplimo finished with a time of 2:02:23 to win the event. It was a dominant performance from Kiplimo, who remained close to the head of the pack the entire race. After trailing last year’s winner John Korir early on, Kiplimo made his move around the halfway point. From there, he was able to lengthen his lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kiplimo was threatening for the world record as late as the 22nd mile. But he slowed down as the race reached its final stage. By the time he got to the next mile marker, Kiplimo was already out of world-record range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He may not have won the 2025 Chicago Marathon, but Conner Mantz entered the record books. With a finishing time of 2:04:43, Mantz set the American record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mantz beat out Khalid Khannouchi, who posted a 2:05:38 finishing time in 2002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mantz seemed to get stronger as the race progressed. While he sat in the top-10 for most of the event, he steadily worked his way up that list throughout the race. While he threatened for a podium spot late, Mantz eventually finished in fourth place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hawi Feysa burst onto the scene in 2024, when she set a record at the Frankfurt Marathon. After a strong performance in the Tokyo Marathon in March, in which she finished third, Feysa broke through for another win Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Feysa, who is from Ethiopia, won the Chicago Marathon with a time of 2:14:56.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
