Uganda’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the African Nations Championship (CAN) has banned fans who wear jerseys and or T-shirts with offensive and provocative messages .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While addressing the journalists at the Uganda Media Centre , LOC member Ms. Diana Nabuuso , said that ban which takes immediate effect and will be strictly enforced during the first quater-final games between Uganda Cranes and defending champions Senegal was intended to protect Uganda\u2019s image during the continental tournament and to guarantee discipline among supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She stated that no fan will be allowed entry if their attire undermines the spirit of peace and order expected at such a high-profile fixture. ” Ugandans we are known for our good manners and hospitality . We shall not allow a few fans to taint this good image known of us ,” she stated and rebuked fans who wear jerseys with vulgar words and sexual connotations .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda\u2019s clash with Senegal, scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff, comes on the back of the Cranes\u2019 dramatic 3-3 draw with South Africa\u2019s Bafana Bafana on Monday, a result that not only secured top spot in Group C with seven points but also marked a historic first-ever qualification for the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The heroic comeback has been widely celebrated as a reflection of the team\u2019s fighting spirit and the unwavering support of Ugandans who have packed Namboole in record numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The LOC has also reminded fans that all tickets for the quarterfinal will be sold exclusively online, in line with CAF\u2019s directive to curb counterfeiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
LOC Communications Chairperson Mr. Dennis Mugimba revealed that each supporter will only be able to buy a maximum of three tickets, adding that there will be no physical tickets available in circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also urged fans to strictly adhere to the seating arrangements printed on their electronic tickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
