The NRM leaders seeking positions on the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and special organs have been urged to maintain discipline and decorum ahead of elections in the delegates\u2019 conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leaders were urged by the party’s 1st National Vice Chairman ,Hajji Moses Kigongo, in a harmonization meeting held today at the party\u2019s Electoral Commission offices at Kyadondo Road, Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor you who are here, I want to emphasise discipline, without it, we wouldn’t be here. Especially you leaders, the people are watching you on any step you take,\u201dKigongo said as he welcomed all those who are going to join CEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hajji Kigongo also cautioned the delegates against being gullible to the persuasions of some candidates that may want to \u2018buy\u2019 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are at a different level now. You have to respect yourself. Don’t become so cheap; there is a threat of you being bought. Really, how can somebody buy you as if you are groundnuts?\u201d Kigongo wondered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong dismissed some allegations of favoritism of some candidates by the party leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todwong said, \u201cNobody is being favored, nobody will be favored, and nobody is being considered special. Everybody is a candidate, and if you are a candidate, you have to conduct yourself as a candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are here to tell you that all of you will be treated fairly, and everybody will be allowed to present yourself. There will be campaigns, and voting will be through lining up, and results will be declared in the open,\u201d he added to array the fears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todwong said all the candidates will have their agents at the polling stations to ensure that there is fairness and nobody will cry after the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe system will be very fair. It will start from who qualifies to be a delegate because those are your voters for special interest groups and for the main conference. The conference is going to have four parts. The first part of the conference will be the concerns of the Central Executive Committee, who will be vetting all candidates for CEC,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the delegates\u2019 conference assured the candidates and party leaders of a very well organized conference.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe upcoming National Conference will be the best. There is no room for errors because we have had enough time and resources to ensure a hustle free conference,\u201d Namayanja said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Electoral Commission Chairman Tanga Odoi reiterated that the commission will organize very fair elections for CEC and positions of the special organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All candidates will be fairly treated and nobody will be favored during the voting at Kololo Ceremonial grounds.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
