Retired Brigadier General, Emmanuel Rwashande, has defeated long-serving Member of Parliament Theodore Ssekikubo to become the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the hotly contested Lwemiyaga County seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rwashande garnered 16,358 votes, while Ssekikubo received 8,702. Other candidates included Joy Kabatsi, who polled 473 votes, and Jacob Kato, with 11 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A bitter Ssekikubo has since rejected the results alleging intimidation, political violence ,and even abduction of his supporters during the hotly contested party ticket. The two political heavy weights have traded insults against each other and Ssekikubo alleged that his opponent Rwashande did not have the minimum qualifications required for nomination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Country wide, NRM top guns secured the highly sought after NRM party ticket although there were some notable casualties that included <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winners included some old and tested hands ,Amelia Kyambadde \u2013 Mawokota North; David Kabanda \u2013 Kasambya County; Stephen Shyaka Gashaija \u2013 Entebbe Municipality; Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi \u2013 Rujumbura County; Swaibu Ojasi \u2013 Iganga Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
