In the month of June 2025, Entebbe International Airport registered a total of 213,217 international passengers that included  106,583 arrivals and 106,634 departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This translates to an average of 7,107 arrivals and departures per day, the second highest to be recorded in a single month after the daily average of 7,171 recorded in December 2024, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Spokesman , Mr. Vianney Luggya explained .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in May 2025, Entebbe International Airport recorded 97,568 arriving passengers and 100,484 departing passengers bringing the total for the month to 98,052.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luggya attributed the good performance figures to several factors that included Hijja returnees, tourism promotion, expansion of Uganda Airlines routes business and a number of conferences, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For  cargo, Entebbe International Airport recorded a total of 6,293 metric tonnes-4,332 metric tonnes of exports and 1,961 metric tonnes of imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/strong> June marked the return of Muslim pilgrims from Mecca<\/strong>, with Hajj arrangements involving hundreds of travelers passing through EIA. Enhanced regional and international connectivity<\/strong> facilitated by Uganda Airlines\u2019 expanding route network<\/strong>\u2014including direct flights between Entebbe and key international hubs such as Mumbai<\/strong>, Lagos<\/strong>, Abuja<\/strong>, and London Gatwick have also led to an increase of traffic at the airport,\u201d Luggya stated .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The continued promotion of Uganda as a tourism destination<\/strong>,  contributed to both inbound and outbound traffic. \u201cConferences and international Engagements have seen <\/strong>Uganda remain a hub for high-level regional and international meetings<\/strong>, including ongoing preparations for CHAN , AFCON and <\/strong> the African Judges Forum.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCAA says that <\/strong>EIA has also grown in prominence as a gateway for business and trade-related travel across the East and Central African region, fueled by stable flight schedules and improved passenger services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGrowth in exports<\/strong> is largely attributed to the rising demand for agricultural products<\/strong>, including fruits<\/strong>, fish<\/strong>, fish maws<\/strong>, and gold<\/strong>, which are increasingly being shipped through EIA due to efficient processing and handling services.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the imports<\/strong> side, the availability of direct cargo space on Uganda Airlines<\/strong> and other carriers has allowed the business community to benefit from lower transportation costs<\/strong>, with goods arriving faster and more affordably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
