 Hundreds of people including ministers, members of parliament and residents turned up for a rally dubbed \u201cBuganda for Museveni\u201d, organised in Gomba District to rally grassroots support  the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of the 2026 general elections .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Buganda for Museveni rally in Gomba West Constituency was held at Kifampa Church of Uganda Primary School in Kifampa Sub County, organised by Hon Robina Gureme Rwakoojo, the Member of Parliament of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buganda for Museveni rallies are organised by NRM MPs in their respective constituencies  to revive the NRM party \u2013eight months to the polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This rally was graced by Judith Nabakooba, the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, as chief guest. At the event, Nabakooba called upon the public, particularly residents of Gomba to vote for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming 2026 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is very unfortunate that the President didn\u2019t perform well in the 2021 Presidential elections but let us look at how far he has brought us and trust him again. We ask you to vote for NRM flag bearers to make a good trail to the President,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nabakooba acknowledged the mistake done in  the last elections, losing good leaders who can amplify their voices because of the wave that saw many NRM candidates defeated by the National Unity Platform candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have tested them in these five years. Let this be a lesson and vote wisely next time. All our NRM MPs meet the President in our caucus and are able to report challenges in their communities but it becomes hard for us to associate with opposition leaders,\u201d Ms Nabakooba emphasised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her docket as a lands minister, she pledged to work with the area MP, Rwakoojo, to settle all land disputes in Gomba. In areas like Bukundugulu, the minister intervened and halted eviction threats there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGomba is dominated by public land which was distributed to people but were reluctant to settle on it. By the time they wanted to use their land, it was already occupied, causing conflicts among sitting tenants and the initial land owners,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cases involve land grabbing that took place during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. Land grabbers reportedly used this period to forge documents altering ownership. But the minister said all the forged title deeds will be canceled .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe good thing is our District Land Board (DLB) acknowledged the mistakes and wrote to the commissioner land registration and cancelled some titles as other cases are awaiting to be resolved in courts,\u201d Ms Nabakooba explained and  promised to work with the Chief Justice and the Principal Judge to cancel all those titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the leased land, Nabakooba urged district land boards to always scrutinize and see the conditions and agreements in the leases. She noted that a number of leases have expired, cautioning them against doing automatic renewal arguing that some of this land is already occupied thus asking for a chance to allow the members of the public to apply for the leases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gomba West MP Rwakoojo said they believe this mobilization rally will increase support for President Museveni in the coming elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She noted that different ministers were invited to respond to people\u2019s outcry especially about poor electricity coverage in Kifampa Sub County where this function was held and elsewhere, health centres yet to be constructed and those under construction, land issues, and lack of tap water among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have singled out the most pressing challenges to see that we get answers from the responsible ministers and give our people hope. After this meeting, we are optimistic that NRM will win big in 2026,\u201d she asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Ruth Nankabirwa, the Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, pledged that power distribution will soon start especially for the most vulnerable communities like Kifampa Sub County, where electricity is only in the trading centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was also graced by Mr Haruna Kasolo, the Minister of State for Microfinance, who noted that Gomba District\u2019s parishes have so far received two batches of the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, urging the public to embrace these programs and change their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that Emyooga funds have been disbursed and given to the people  the  area and an additional  Shs.20 million will be released for each Sacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe  also have a plan to help idle youth get what to do through an initiative of issuing boda bodas on loan schemes and we hope this will be a game changer for many young men,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event  was attended Hanifa Kawooya, the state minister for health and Ssembabule Woman MP,  Cissy Namujju, Lwengo Woman MP, Juliet Kinyamatama ,Rakai Woman Mp, Sylvia Nayebare Gomba,  Kibedi Nsegumire -Mityana North MP,  David Kabanda-Kasambya County, and Hope Grania Nakazibwe -Mubende District Woman MP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
